About Sallie*Mom

In high school, I was a music loving nerd who spent my days playing trumpet in the school band. When the Salvation Army came in contact with my family in 1994, I was invited to play in the church band and became involved in the other youth activities that were offered in my Kentucky hometown. It wasn't long before I was at the doors of The Salvation Army every time they were opened. God used my love for music to introduce me to an even broader spectrum of service through The Salvation Army. I was hooked and at age 23 was commissioned as an officer in The Salvation Army. During those years in high school and college, I worked at a Salvation Army Summer camp where I met and fell in love with my husband. Five years after meeting each other, we were married and began our ministry in The Salvation Army together. Our two children, affectionately called Thing 1 and Thing 2 on this blog are definitely a rambunctious bunch. At ages 15 and 13, they keep us on our toes. I love being a wife, mother, and officer (pastor) and have a passion to help other Sallie*Moms balance the many things that happen on the other side of the tunic.
